Date: 5 and 6 December 2015

Place: Sant Cugat del Vallés (Spain)

Objective: Fundraising for the project of the foundation

Collaborators: RICOH / Futsal Sant Cugat / Sant Cugat city council / Club DiR

This charity tournament, held thanks to the collaboration of Futsal Sant Cugat, Ricoh Spain and the Sant Cugat city council, helped raise funds for Eric Abidal Foundation -and more specifically- for a project whose aim was to grant a training scholarship to specialise on hepatic transplants for a doctor from Hospital Materno Infantil in Vall d’Hebron, Barcelona.

The solidarity futsal tournament was warmly welcomed by participants, their families and all attendees who went to the Sant Cougat sports centre during the whole weekend. All of them witnessed and enjoyed two days full of sport, fun and solidarity.

A number of trophies and medals were awarded to all participants. The champions of each category were Sant Cugat Esport (Under-10s), Sant Cugat Esport (Under-12s), CatGas Santa Coloma (Under-14s) and CFS Eixample (Under-16s). However, regardless of winning or not, the most important thing was to participate, as well as the commitment and fair-play of all the children involved and the feeling that prevailed during the whole weekend. Besides, children had the opportunity to meet one of their idols, the president of the Foundation, Eric Abidal, who delighted all the attendees by sharing pictures, autographs, shirts and footballs among the youngest ones.

The Foundation from the Catalan Football Association joined Eric Abidal Foundation’s initiative by providing its collaboration and support. Among other presents, and as part of a fund-raising solidarity action, it raffled two shirts from the Catalan Football Team, signed by the trainers.

And not only prizes were awarded.  #Micompañerodeviaje association made the first donation to the Foundation, with which they have been collaborating since the very beginning to help children and young people with cancer.

In addition to the futsal tournament itself, it was a fun-filled weekend. There was a Zumba session organised by DiR Clubs and a charity raffle with lots of gifts at the end of the event. In closing, there was a football match between, from Ricoh Spain, Calidad Pascual and Futsal Sant Cugat volunteers who worked in the event.
